Announcing the New Parking & Transportation Association of Pennsylvania

Dear PPA members and supporters,

As PPA Board President, I would like to take this opportunity to thank each of you for your support of the Pennsylvania Parking Association over the last year. It has been very busy with many changes to the association, as well as the board. The one constant is that the board remains committed to providing our members with representation in the parking, transportation, and mobility industry, as well as providing opportunities for all members to participate in quality education programs, networking events, and professional development opportunities. I'm happy to share with you some recent updates and news from our organization.

As you may know, in an effort to ensure that we take a comprehensive approach to our industry, the board has been working on a transition to include "transportation" in our official name. With that goal in mind, we are presently taking the necessary legal steps to change our organization name to "The Parking and Transportation Association of Pennsylvania (PTAP)". Like many other state and regional industry organizations, we felt this was a natural transformation. As the industry continues to evolve, we see the inclusion of complementary transportation concepts with parking, including issues like loading zones, ride sharing, and the ever increasing delivery services that have exploded since COVID. Please check out our new website to learn about PTAP goals, resources, upcoming events, and more!

We have also been working with Allegheny Strategic Partners (ASP) to advocate on our behalf to call for legislation that will help industry professionals throughout the state of Pennsylvania and beyond. Our primary goal is to pass legislation that will allow municipalities to suspend registrations for non-payment of parking fines.

Lastly, I would like to call on each of you to reach out to your parking and transportation peers to join our ranks. The success of our organization is contingent on our membership. We want to continue to grow to not only to support the organization, but to enable us to provide the education, resources, and opportunities to support industry professionals throughout our great state. We would love to welcome new members from the higher education sector, as well as municipalities, healthcare institutions, airports, transit agencies, private operators, and more! Please extend an invitation to anyone you may know in these sectors.

Thank you all again for a very successful year and I look forward to seeing you all again at our 2024 Fall Training and 2025 Spring Conference in Pittsburgh!

Sincerely,

Matt Lohenitz

President
